Captain Malcolm Reynolds Description: Firefly is a great, thrilling ride through a cowboy/space future, following the crew of the Firefly class starship 'Serenity'. At the helm is Wash, but right behind him giving the orders is Captain Mal Reynolds, captivatingly played by Nathan Fillion. He's followed loyally (most of the time) by his great crew, each of whom are wonderfully acted and brought to life by the actors behind them. So, ofcourse, it was canceled. (Damn you, Fox!) Then, thanks to the wonderful sales of the complete series DVD set, There was a movie, Serenity! WOOOOOO! So, anyway, here's the first of a series of drawings of Firefly's brilliant cast. This picture is based off the cover of Mal on the First Disc box in the DVD set. I inked my sketch onto a new piece of paper using my lightbox and once in Photoshop, changed his head drastically. His neck and head were shortened, his eyes, nose and lips were redrawn and his entire head was shrunk slightly after the process. (Gotta love Photoshop!) On an earlier picture, I expressed a need to begin drawing backgrounds and males. (I'd use the term "draw backgrounds and males more often", except that I don't draw either, ever) Well, here's my first attempt at getting into drawing males and backgrounds. I think it's a good start. I HAVE drawn males and backgrounds before, ofcourse, But they've never been very good and I've just now decided to really get dedicated to it...My art page is just too populated by females.
