Las Vegas Waitress/Showgirl
Description:
The reason I got into drawing was because my mom wouldn't buy me
coloring books, She thought it stifled imagination to color in
someone else's work. So, I started to draw simply so I could have
something to color in. Sometimes, We would get coloring books
of shows that we liked, So while other kids were drawing outside the
lines and filling in Michaelangelo's skin yellow, I was diligently
and carefully filling in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' skins
green and they all had their proper bandana colors, because that's
what I was interested in, REALLY coloring, not just scribbling,
and to this day, I prefer coloring to drawing. Up until now,
since my art has begun to improve and I'm happier with it, the only reason I
drew was to subsequently color it in. The moral of the story? Coloring is
the reason I drew this picture. Well, actually, I drew it to test out my new anatomy
skills (I was happy with how it came out), but primarily the outfit came out of my
desire to color in something flashy. I had a blast inking this and coloring it, The
stockings being something I immediately liked when I drew them. I also like how her
breasts look like implants. I'm not sure if I did that on purpose, But it seems to fit
with the whole image. The tray and it's content lack a lot. They aren't very well drawn
or colored, but I kind of like it that way, I want all the attention on her and her outfit. I love
how the feathers came out and the glitzy bodice. (I already had an idea of
how I wanted to do the glitter on the bodice from a picture I did of Roy of Siegfreid
and Roy...Don't ask..) but what I had the most fun with was doing the makeup. All I did
was apply the same rules of applying makeup on a real face, except my brushes were
Photoshop brushes and my lipsticks, blushes and eyeshadows were courtesy of Photoshop's color picker.
(One of my other favorite things, Makeup...I might
have just had a psychological breakthrough. Is my makeup hobby somehow tied to my coloring
hobby?) I'm not crazy about the background, I was happy with it at first, but I think the yellow
is too strong, maybe. I like how the "Las Vegas" came out, but the other text is not as nice.
She's more anime than comic book style, She has some very exagerrated features. I like her
look though. Overall, I am really happy with how the drawing and the coloring turned out.
Do waitresses really look like this in Las Vegas in real life? I'm not sure - I've never been,
but that's what I love about drawing. If you can imagine it, you can make it.
Fun fact? I drew this while watching Ben-Hur for the first time.
