Description:

This is here for history. Eight years ago, despite having grown up watching Voltron Force, Thundercats and the like, I watched what I considered my "first anime". I believe it was Vampire Hunter D. I had been drawing since I was five, and I all of a sudden had the want to draw in this 'anime' style. I said "I can do that." and went and got a piece of paper and drew a horrible boxy thing. The hair was boxy, the eyes were boxes with dots in the middle, it all really, really, really sucked. This here, is actually an improvement compared to what I first drew. (Btw, I still have a few of those...Maybe I should scan them in, boxy eyes and all) I keep this picture around to remind me when I become bummed about how much my art sucks compared to most artists, that my art is really great compared to what I used to do. It usually makes me feel good and gives me the hope to keep on practicing so that someday I'll look back on one of my newer drawings and feel good about how far I've come. This is back when I gradient-colored everything too. If there's one thing I'd want you to know about coloring, DON'T gradient color every little thing. It's not just cool, dude.
