Anime Character
Description:
I've been constantly trying to draw in a more comic
book style. I left drawing anime, which is what I started
out with in my drawing career, because I felt it was very
simple to do since it gave you so many liberties as to eye
shape, hair color, etc. I went into comics because I like the more
life-like look. (We'll ignore the size and bodies of most of the
women with that statement.) I don't read comics, but I enjoy the style as a
realistic cartoon...as long as you forgive the gravity-defying breasts.
Anywhoo, I decided to do some anime since I hadn't done any in a long time.
It took me approximately three minutes to draw this. I really love
this picture. It went so fast and it just looks really great to me. I love the hand,
the coloring (I went for cel-shading. It just said "anime" more to me than airbrushing) and
the pose. It makes me almost want to cry, because I look at the anatomy, the coloring,
the whole damn picture and, to me, it looks like it was done by some other artist, some
GOOD artist...it just makes me feel really good that I can like my own picture this much.
Did I mention how much I like the hand? I just felt SO good about that hand the moment I
drew it...Gotta love the little glowing bits at the end of her finger, those came out nice as well.
I'm just a little happy camper with my picture here. I was a little scared about inking it
(I inked over the original, instead of using a lightbox to transfer onto new) and I got really nervous
when I chose the big pen to give it the really boxy outer line, but it worked as well as I had
hoped. The end result is something I'm really proud of and I hope you enjoy it too.
